Very quick update

I sit here at our beautiful Green Campus at 6:20am waiting for some guys to show up and then we pray. Good times...

Life is good, but busy. School has started again, so my life is back to a monotonous work then read schedule. I'm determined to try to read all of the assigned reading this semester. We'll see how it goes (I'm almost caught up from last weekend).

For those who are curious, we had a trialsome, but successful video simulcast several weeks ago. It took all night and several products for us to end up back at iChat, but everything turned out great!

We also named our new Senior Associate pastor. Yes, it's a mega-church thing to do, but that's what we are. I'm excited. Paul is a great man of God and will be welcomed back with open arms. (And no, Knute isn't done yet).

Well, gotta do last minute prep for praying.

I'll try to keep this a bit more updated, but life is crazy so....

Back in Ohio

So, my long day of travel has come to an end. I was running through both Boston and Atlanta's airports. I barely made both flights and since it was basically walk off one flight and onto another, I felt like I was on one big flight for 10 hours.

As I was coming back into Ohio, I realized how cloudy it actually gets here. It was amazing how long it took us to actually get down through the clouds. The majority of the descent was in the clouds. Not fun.

As for my vaca, it was good. I learned that reading isn't really all that bad. I read through 1.5 marketing books, 3 books on relationships/singleness, and got through another half a book on how your order of birth effects who you are. All very good books in my opinion. Feel free to email me if you want more details.

Now, off to bed so that I can be up in the morning and going at work as I hit the ground sprinting towards this weekend.

Finishing the way it started

So when I was preparing to leave for FL two weeks ago, I was up late doing laundry and didn't get much sleep at all. So, what a better way to finish the trip then to stay up late again. Jon and I have had a good time and now I'm up (probably all night) and packing to go back home. Wish I could stay longer, but the problems of home await my help to be solved.

I leave here at 12:15pm and because of the "cheap ticket" route and the somewhat last minute purchase, I get home at a rousing 9:40pm. I get to fly home through Atlanta via Boston. Yes, I am flying from FL to Boston to Atlanta to Akron. This is like 2 3 hour flights and then a 2 hour flight to top it off with less then 1 hour layovers in both Boston and Atlanta. Crappy day. And on top of that, the nat'l championship starts at 8. I won't even be in an airport to watch it. Such is life. Just hope for no snow delays.

Bucks and The Secular World

So, my friend here in Fort Myers lives in this apartment complex that is meant for college students – rent is cheap and you don't really have a say over your roommate. He has been without a roommate for almost two months. Two weeks ago, he got this foreign roommate that threatened him, so that guy was kicked out.

After my arrival, he found out that they were going to put someone else in this 3 bedroom apt. That happened today. The guy is pretty cool and moved his stuff in while Jon and I took off for the afternoon. More on this later.

After a good lunch and a stop for me to get reading material for my forever long travel day Wednesday, we went to this sports bar down the street to watch the Bucks play. It was a GREAT game shared with many older people. The bar was apparently based on people from Indiana due to the IU and Notre Dame banners hanging from the ceiling. They even had half the place blocked out for Irish fans. At the end of the game, there was an 8 year old-ish boy who had a OSU jersey on. Someone had a Bucks banner and his mom tied it around his neck and let him run through the Irish room. It was funny. Afterwards, Jon and I came back.

We've learned that his new roommate, Steve, had moved into this complex because he broke up with his live-in girlfriend. Here comes sheltered Kevin. I kind of understand the thoughts behind the "advantages" of the live-in significant other. I see the "benefits." However, I've made some financial decisions in my past that were relationship based that ended up getting me in the end. So, I can't imagine having all this trust bestowed and no real commitment. So, Steve and his girlfriend have broken up because they just don't seem themselves on the same path. BUT (always a big but), they still see each other and she even came over tonight and is probably just gonna stay.

What?!?! I have been to the point of breaking up with someone I cared about. The last thing I would think of is, "Oh, let's just keep seeing each other as friends." Yikes. Am I alone on this? Is it just that I'm this sheltered? I don't know. Feel free to comment.

Welcoming in 2006

New Years in downtown Fort Myers. More on this later.

Jon and I spent the 2005-2006 change over in downtown Fort Myers. The square pictured above was filled with people and there's even a ball if you look close enough that's attached to the fire truck. They definitely dropped the ball a good 2 minutes before midnight and then threw, yes threw by hand, confetti over the crowd.

After nearly getting swung at and beer poured all over manuvering around DT Fo.Mo. We left and travelled down through the nasty, nasty fog to Friday's. We were hungry and it was open — good combo.

Now we're back and just chillin'. Sadly, only a couple more days left. Then, I get the privilege of going back to cold, cold Ohio. I checked the weather today just to see what I was going back to and saw that it's not too bad right now, but will be back to snowing temperatures the day I return. Hopefully, I can make it in without any problems.
