A week later

This time one week ago, I was about half way done with my 14-hour wait for the new xbox 360. Crazy? Yes. Cold? Yes. Wet? Yes. Worth it? Yes.

I am glad to say that the only time my xbox has seemed to fail is when i brought it home and the invisible tape that hardly anyone had seen was on the disc drive caused the box not to open. Other than that, smooth sailing.

I've been reading some of the posts of the poor people who's xbox is breaking. It seems that the power supply is the issue. My guess is that they didn't take the time to think through the fact that the power supply is GIGANTIC and has fans. Probably shouldn't put it on the carpet near the other electronics where it's already hot. Just a thought.

Christmas concert setup starts tomorrow. The joy of screen blending :) Hopefully all will come through. We'll find out soon enough. Please pray for me.

New View on Life (cheesy I know)

So, I've debated over the past few months on whether or not to get contacts. I find that glasses work well, but there have been times where I've been scared of what would happen (and how I would pay) if my current glasses broke.

Contacts seemed like a good decision. Get disposables and then I can just take an extra pair or 2 on trips and not worry. So, Tuesday night, I setup an appointment at Walmart for next week. I realized that this was a bad idea due to my right eye having an astigmatism that usually rates off the charts and Thanksgiving being next Thursday.

I called last night and changed the appointment to today. Fearing the worst, I drove to Walmart being sure to have my sunglasses expecting to get my eyes dialated. I was early and played a game on the new xbox. Insane graphics. Just insane, but I digress.

I got the air puff test for glaucoma and don't have that to worry about. Then they measured my eyes and I waited to see the doc. He came in and looked at my chart. I confessed to my bad bad bad vision in my right eye and he acknowledged that my measurements were awesome. From there he gave me the alphabet soup test (which had numbers and totally threw me off). After playing that game, he said I had two options due to the fact that my head basically ignores my right eye now (it's lazy, which is beginning to creep into the rest of my system as well I suspect).

1) Stick with glasses. This would be more or less just for protection of my left eye. I've know for a long time that if my left eye is damaged, I'm hosed. I've lived like this for 23+ years. I know the dangers. What's option 2?

2) A single contact. It's cheaper and my right eye is basically useless. I've known this for a while, but it did get me strange looks the last time I took my driver's license exam. I have great peripheral vision, but can't make out any of their letters.

I opted for #2. So, he gave me a sample contact for my left eye and scheduled me for a follow up. The whole thing is kinda funny to me. But, at least now I won't have to worry about my glasses breaking :)

Fun in Florida

I had the chance to spend some time in Florida last week. It was a great relaxing vacation. Well, except that some keeps their apartment near 60 degrees and I got a cold which I'm still recovering from.

Either way, it was a great time to go see friends and the sun. Now, I return to Ohio to prepare for Christmas concert madness. The joys :) I'm excited, it'll be fun.

It was great catching up with Jon, Sandy, and Matt. Never expected to see those 3 in the same week, in the same state, but that happens! Also can't wait to be back in a month!!

That's all for now; stay tuned for more Christmas concert updates!

Graduate School....

I've been through so many emotions already this morning.

My day started when I woke up worrying about the New Testament exam
that I had today. The quizzes for the class have been hard and now
we're having our final? Not a good way to start the day. I
purposefully gave myself some extra time in the car so that I could
calm down a bit before I got to class. Got to class just before 8am
and the final promptly began class.

It consisted of 70 mostly basic questions on the New Testament. Not
bad at all. Just confirmed my suspicion that the quizzes for the
class had been ridiculously difficult. With that out of the way, I
could focus on the rest of my weekend.

I became more stressed about my schedule for the rest of the day.
Soccer game this afternoon (Go Bulldogs!), quick stop for some last
minute essentials at WalMart, laundry at home and then a bit of sleep
before my flight tomorrow morning. Yes, tomorrow morning... that
begins a week in warm, warm, sunny, bright and sunny Florida.
Happiness begins to pour in. Life is good. Well, except for a bit of
confusion...

See, I'm still sitting here in class. The one that I took the final
in this morning. We took the final before the last day of lecture.
Not quite sure how that exactly works, but I'm not complaining. It
means that I got to take the test before my brain was exhausted. So,
at 9am we began right back into where we left off last night. I'm
convinced my prof is a genius. He just pours out tons and tons of
stories, facts, and information. Hard to keep track of, but that this
point it's hard to concentrate (as evidenced by this post), knowing
that my grade is already settled. Oh well. Back to the learning process.
